About Third Nature

Third Nature Studio is a small San Francisco-based landscape design studio specializing in contemporary and contextual residential projects. Services offered range from design consultations to refined aesthetic detailing, planting & materials plans.

Randi Johnsen, a landscape designer with a youthful, artistic yet practical eye, runs Third Nature Studio. In 2004, she received a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley where she was given the prestigious American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award.

Randi has worked on projects throughout California and the world as an associate at Meyer + Silberberg Land Architects, and as a consultant for the offices of Walter Hood and Cheryl Barton. After designing and documenting large-scale public, commercial and institutional projects, Randi discovered that for her, the residential context is one of compelling intimacy and meaning. Third Nature Studio was formed as a result.
