Burbank Ranch Vineyard and Winery
Burbank Ranch Vineyard and Winery is an 83-acre farm in Templeton California, not far from Paso Robles. The Ranch includes vineyards, a public tasting room, a private residence, and an agricultural manager's residence. The main residence is encircled with ribbons of Nassella tenuissima and Pennisetum spathiolatum, blurring fore, middle and background and connecting intimate garden spaces with the surrounding hills. Evergreen shrubs including dwarf olives, yucca and lavender mimic the oaks dotting the creek bottoms, and connect visitors of this spectacular winery to the larger landscape of rolling hills and the Santa Lucia Mountains.
Oakland Hills Residence
Our lovely shade garden for clients in the Oakland Hills features California native plants and strong contemporary lines that play off the lush, lacy, rich textures of the plant material. The hilly landscape provides an opportunity for paths and stairs to lead you to quiet spaces for rest and reflection.
Orinda Hills Residence
Our Orinda project features simple materials that complement a lovingly renovated Modern Agrarian style hilltop home for a busy family. Our custom designed shade structure was inspired by the clients' awning detail, and the olive trees, succulents, sages and grasses that surround the pool area and entry courtyard create an elegant, dry garden.
Hayes Valley Courtyard
Third Nature Studio transformed a muddy, shady backyard behind a stunning Hayes Valley Victorian home into a stylish child friendly space with a large ipe deck, custom wrap around trellis and gate, and board formed concrete planter. Hedges of bamboo and podocarpus line the expansive deck and trellis area to create a rich, varied green on green plant palette that requires minimal maintenance and frames a central, flexible space.
Liberty Hill Residence
There is no reason that budget, space or being a renter should prevent anyone from creating a little garden to love. On this roof deck in San Francisco's Liberty Hill neighborhood, we worked with the client's existing planters to reestablish a living, vibrant, low maintenance garden.
This mid-century ranch style house in the Maywood Park neighborhood of Portland was updated with modular block wall planters, gravel paths, concrete pavers, new fences and gates all in time for the residents' summer wedding.
Montclair Entry Courtyard
We reworked the dropdown main entryway to this midcentury house with a gorgeous contemporary concrete stair, ipe deck, custom metal mesh screen and built in bench. A planting palette of luminous, sculptural grey-green plants transform this formerly overlooked space into a show-stopping courtyard.
