Kentfield Aerie

Third Nature Studio is currently designing a layered hillside landscape in Kentfield as an extension of the home’s new addition, in collaboration with JMJ Studios. Working with a steep, constrained site, the project focuses on rethinking circulation and outdoor living to create a cohesive sequence of spaces that connect the existing residence, pool terrace, and future roof deck.

An existing kidney-shaped pool anchors the composition, with the design exploring ways to enhance privacy, preserve mature trees, and frame long views toward Mount Tam. Across the site, we are developing strategies to balance openness and enclosure while maximizing usable outdoor space—shaping a landscape that supports everyday living while responding carefully to topography, views, and neighboring conditions.
